Chilimafia – the platform for high quality chili products from all over Europe
We are Chili Mafia, a small team who loves chilies and chili sauces. In addition to our chili sauce online store, we also run our own chili sauce manufactory (formerly Pika Pika Chili Compositions now Chili Mafia Hot Sauces) and also ship our Chilimafia Hot Sauce Boxes. We test and evaluate all of our sauces before they are added to our online store. Only the best comes into our store, and into the boxes thus we ensure that our customers are satisfied and receive high quality products.
In addition to our Chili Mafia store we run 2 other stores:
- Our sauces are marketed under our own brand Chilimafia Hot Sauces (previously: “Pika Pika Chili Compositions” ) in a new design, and can of course be found in our online store as well as at specialized retailers.

All the sauces in the store and in the boxes were tried and rated good to excellent. Only sauces that we use and appreciate ourselves are found in the boxes.

How it all began…
It all started at a weekly market in the summer of 2011. Back then, Fabian Rueda, founder of today’s Chilimafia, stood at a weekly market in Berlin with his friend Diego and sold homemade hot chili sauces. The sauces sold well, and several weekly and Christmas markets later it was clear that the project should be turned into a professional one.
Even before that, Fabian dreamed of a project that would be about spiciness and spicy products. Now the dream became reality: with Diego’s professional knowledge as a chef and Fabian’s online marketing background, the project quickly grew and the range of sauces became very broad. One thing was particularly important: only fresh ingredients should be used and, above all, there should be no flavor enhancers or artificial extracts in the sauces. This has remained the case to this day: seasonal harvests from preferably regional production are used in the sauces, with the colour and spiciness of the chillies and the secondary ingredients giving the end product its colour and identity.
Accordingly, the sauces come in many different colors and degrees of heat: From light to “criminally” hot, everything is there, and the chilies are finely tuned to partly exotic ingredients such as mango or wild berries.
The next steps expanded the horizon
The high quality of the then“Pika Pika Chili Compositions” and the exclusively handmade sauces kept their promise, and the fan base grew. The sauces were sold throughout Europe to exclusive delicatessens as well as end customers, distribution expanded and the products were presented at chili festivals and exclusive trade fairs and markets. The success proved the founders right: 3 years in a row, several sauces from the range were awarded prizes at various national and international chili festivals.
Sales to end customers began online, with customers buying the products on Amazon and via the company’s own online store from 2016. The international success of the sauces is reflected, among other things, in the fact that several products are bestsellers on the regional Amazon pages.
After moving from Berlin to Trier in 2015, the production capacity expanded. A disused restaurant with a fully equipped professional kitchen became the headquarters of today’s Chilimafia. There was enough storage space available, so the production of sauces increased steadily.
The success story continues…
Diego left the project in 2019 for health reasons, which gave today’s Chilimafia the final go-ahead: sales should not only focus on the in-house sauces, but the “Mafia” should become a large think tank for creative hot products. As a result, other products from small manufacturers were gradually added to the in-house sauces and the online store was expanded to include more hot products. Customers now have a wide range of products to choose from, all of which come from small but excellent owner-managed manufacturers. But they all have one thing in common: the products are made exclusively from high-quality ingredients and are handmade.
The future looks ssssssharp!
There is no shortage of ideas, and more exciting projects are already in the pipeline. Chilimafia will continue to market creative spicy products throughout Europe and is open to new ideas! The online store is also developing and cooperation requests are on the agenda!
Chilimafia has set itself the goal of becoming THE place to go for international manufacturers of spicy products, to offer them a platform for their products to market themselves internationally. Another goal is to generate and implement ideas together with the manufacturers.
